Want Milk?

Specific consumer audiences are being targeted for a reminder about the health benefits of drinking milk in three new TV commercials. This ad campaign, launched by Dairy Management, Inc. and the Milk Processor Education Program, encourages people to increase their calcium intake-and improve their overall diet-by drinking milk. Studies reveal that three out of four people don't meet daily calcium requirements and the average per capita consumption is less than one glass of milk a day.

The first spot, focusing on adults, features a trio of senior citizen milk drinkers who takes on a much younger bunch of bullies in a local diner and triumphs with a round of head butts. The commercial closes with the line, "Want strong bones?" Designed for teens, the second TV spot features a "Milk Carton Guy" on a neighborhood basketball court criticizing sports drinks and praising milk. The third commercial, targeting children, presents video game character Super Mario, and ends with the line "Want to grow?"

The intent is to make milk kind of hip, fun and cool, while focusing on the benefits of calcium. Each of the three TV spots features the "got milk?"® tagline and closes with a question designed to concentrate attention on the milk drinking needs of certain demographic segments.
